Hello again,
so I played a bit more with FSC and I came up with couple of questions. Maybe I can find some answers here:
1. How can I make ATC call you TST51 instead of Landmark 5172 (flightnumber) - so with company code? I have set the Code to TST in airline definitions and checked "set ID to code". Or can I only use the pre defined names like Landmark 5172 or is it possible to drop the Landmark and get called TST51 instead?
2. How to change the boarding door? That passangers dont need the main door opened but instead like door 3? (ex. cessna 208B)
3. I had multiple times that no safety message from cabin crew was played. I had cabin crew etc but the safety message was never played during taxi? how is it triggered?
4. Is there a message shortly before arriving at the gate saying thanks and goodbye?
5. How is the applause triggered? I had it multiple times and sometimes not. Though it was about the landing vspeed but even with a 100FPM landing speed I didn't got one while I got one with way higher FPM.
Thanks for any help!

Hi Feoras,
I believe Travis will soon be back on the forum and may have to say more on this. I will try to answer your question to the best of my knowledge.
1. FSCaptain does not deal with ATC. For the ACARS system, I believe airline name and flight number are the only option right now. However, there are some ideas about making flight numbers more flexible in a future release.
2. I believe the answer is: we could do that, but you would only be able to do that after some programming (see "Introduction to FSCaptain Interfaces" in the documentation folder)
3. It should be played automatically. What could happen is that FSCaptain uses a wrong configuration file for your plane if you have two different versions of the same plane installed, for instance. That could be fixed by making sure the airplane's configuration file is correct.
4. No, but that's a very good suggestion
5. Applause and passenger opinion depend on how the flight was (how smooth, how well you landed, how well you kept pax informed) and how the pax mood was. The latter is a random variable that simulates that sometimes you just have a bunch of grumpy passengers on board that will complain no matter how well you fly. FSCaptain is not too picky about the touchdown rate: anything below 200 ft/min will be considered a nice landing.
Cheers, Peter

Hey, thanks for the reply. Maybe Travis can help out a bit more in the programming part once he is back, seems complicated 1. Well FSCaptain already changes how ATC calls me - it changes the call to the flightnumber. So I'm just curious if it would be able that ATC not only changes to call the flight number but also like the ID from the airline or something. Since if I want to add letters to the flight number it tells me that it must contain numbers because it would get combined with the Code of the airline. But it doesn't. (Click on Flight Log -> On a flight -> View Details -> Change VA Flight ID -> Enter a letter not a number in the field -> click change -> see the message that tells it would get combined with the Code) 2. Yeah hopefully Travis can help out there if it is already possible to do. 3. Well I had cabin crew on board which were doing announcement but not the safety announcement - but everything else. What could be wrong in the aircraft config that would only prevent that? 4+5: Okay thanks Just good to know what factors plays in there.

Adding to 3: I'm a bit confused about the aircraft config as well. For the Cessna 208B for example, I have a config file (and they all have the same "Type=C208") in following folders: "Aircraft" "Aircraft/Overrides" "Aircraft/Maps" "Aircraft/Maps/Cargo" "Aircraft/Maps/Combi" "Aircraft/Maps/PAX" (so 6 in total). Which config file do I have to edit or which one will be used? But nevertheless I had cabin crew on board and they were making announcement, just not the safety one. Okay did couple of more testing without success. All I got is "Music gots turned on" "music off" "Welcome message from FA" "Music back" - taxi .. no further messages. Though I found that there is no taxi speed exceed warning for Trav "PlayFO() TAXISP type:0 Qnext:0 Qmax:31" "FO audio file FSCaptain\Sound\FO_Trav\TAXISP1.wav not loaded". This file is only located in Dutch's voices - thus there is no taxi speed warning if you have Trav. FCDU.GAU:: 23:42:31 Stage: AAP=0

But I could only make request for weather and runway at KSEA not CYYJ. No idea anymore what to test, probably gonna have to wait until Trav or such can give more inside in there

Hi Feoras,
Dutch and Travis are already working on making flight numbers more flexible, but I am not sure they will be completely flexible. The VA flight ID is only used for the purpose of exporting a flight to the web page of a virtual airline, so you wouldn't see any difference in FSCaptain itself, only on the web page of your VA.
The missing safety announcement is strange, but something like that has happened before. It could be that the corresponding file cannot be played on your system. To test that you could take (or create) a .wav file and temporarily replace the safety announcement. You can find information about this in the FA_role.pdf document.
The config files of type C208 all have a different purpose. The one in Aircraft\ is the general configuration file for any plane that has a line atc_model=C208 in their aircraft.cfg file (in FSX\Simobjects\Airplanes). In Overrides you can put config files for specific planes of the same type but with different characteristics (e.g., one for the Carenado C208). Everything inside Maps\ is only concerned with payload stations.
I recall that there was a problem with weather stations, but it has been fixed I think. Could you send us (see below) a zip of your Data\Logs directory ?
Cheers, Peter

Hey peter, I think if the safety message could not be opened/played it would have been said so in the log, just like the missing taxi speed exceed message with Trav that is missing. The safety announcement media files are in the folder and I can play them externally. Okay I understand with the C208 config. Though the Maps\ files have overridden that I don't have a flight attendant so I had to change that as well so that got me confused which file is used when. Esp. since they all just had the type=c208 but maybe I messed up a bit there myself and created files wrongly. I will write you an email with the log files later, thanks

Hi Feoras,
In some order....
- If you want "default ATC" to call you "TST [flight number]" then you would need to use EditVoicepack to create a "TST" callsign, edit the airlines.cfg file in the root of your flight sim folder, and have FSCaptain's TST airline use the TST code & call out "TST". I've done this with "my" airline CASTLE AIR. Default ATC calls my airline callsign & flight number. No letters are used in the ATC call AFAIK.
- As a Caravan driver myself, I want to change this too. I have plans to introduce a change for 1.7.0 - you would specify the purpose for each of the four possible doors (CREW, PAX, CARGO, CATERING). We would have an LVAR interface for those aircraft that don't use the standard signals, to which we'd map to our internal variables. While we wouldn't try to open/close an interface set of doors (FSDT has an interesting forum post on that subject), we could at least try to be aware of their status.
- There are two sources of a safety call - the FO or the FA. First, it has to be a PAX flight obviously. Second, it has to have at least one PAX onboard. Obviously. It only happens during Taxi Out, and can't occur if you're in Pushback or are receiving de-icing. The FO will only make the announcement if all engines are on, but the FA is free to make the announcement if you're taxiing on one engine. I see that you use Pushback, so I'm guessing that its state is not being reset when it completes. On your next test flight, don't use Pushback nor Deicing and see if that changes things. If so, I'll add other conditions in the check.
- Funny that my taxi warning audio is missing. It's missing here too. Until I can find a copy, just copy Dutch's file over into my sound folder and pretend the sudden voice change is proof that I'm really frightened.
- ARRIVL#.wav is the FA's "thanks for flying with us" which is played just after landing. UNLOAD#.wav is the FA's "thanks and goodbye" message which is played when the doors open... and if you're in a Caravan, that's not guaranteed to happen. Try the CRJ.
- Applause only occurs if the PAX were nervous about something, yet you pulled a good landing out of your hat. It's usually WX related, or it could be because of an in-flight emergency. Also, as Peter noted, if there's a complaining PAX onboard, you likely won't get applause.

Hi Travis, I got it okay. Guess that makes sense. Thought it would be able to say "Tango Sierra Tango 51" for TST51 but if that is unrealistic then there's no need for that indeed. That sounds amazing! Though not sure what other plans you got, but yet only the main door was used for boarding PAX which would only need to specify which door is used for PAX loading. GSX has the ability to specify these things as well, maybe you could pull some information from there - but guess that would only make it more complicate Just having the ability to set it somewhere in FSCaptain would be already be really neat by itself. Yep you are right. I tested it without pushback and it got played! Hurray. Hope you will be able to find a easy way to fix it for the pushback! I added the log of the flight without pushback at the end of this post if it helps. So with pushback it never worked (neither with the CRJ nor the cessna). Yeah I got a bit surprised there as well It was more like a lucky found since I was going through the log files looking for hints for the FA not playing the safety announcement and saw the log of that missing file. With so many sound files it probably just went missing somehow somewhere But I really like the feedback of the FO if you do something wrong. It helps a lot with learning and doign things properly. Ah yeah I think that was played yeah. Sorry for the confusion. Oh I see. That's good to know Though I really like the applause knowing that you have done a "nice" flight. I haven't done too many flights IRL, maybe like 10 but people were always giving applause at the end though - no matter if it was a small prop aircraft or a big A380. The way it is now it's probably more reward if you hear it and makes you even more proud because you pulled off a good flight even with other difficulties. Well that was fast Thanks for the good support. If there's anything I can do to help / test let me know. Meanwhile every pilot wants to speed at the airport And Anytime glad to help wherever I can. Btw, I'm not sure if you are aware but FSX:SE is about to release a new version/update. I'm not sure if you will need to make any changes for that but I have read (for example at GSX) that every addon probably needs to make some changes for it to run with a new update. You can find more information here: steamcommunity.com/app/314160/discussions/1/618459109266153158/
